The Pastoral Council works closely with the Pastor and the Administrative Staff to provide long term planning for the parish, consistent with the Parish Mission Statement. This planning includes a continuing assessment of parish needs, identification of resources and determining priorities. The council is a part of the joint council/committee meetings that were recently enacted to help with the communication with each committee within the parish. Its main function is to counsel the Pastor in decisions that he makes for the parish, so that those decisions may be sound and truly helpful.
The Council consists of three elected members of the parish that are asked to serve a three-year term. Elections are held each year in May to replace council members that have completed their terms. There are also sometimes appointed members, depending on the needs of the parish and the available expertise of the people.
