Duties

The Parish Catholic School Board’s purpose is to fulfill the responsibilities of governing the Catholic school according to the provisions of Iowa Code and the policies of the Archdiocesan Catholic School Board as approved by the Archbishop.  The board is elected and appointed according to the Archdiocesan Catholic School Board.  They ensure the Catholic identity of the Catholic school. They work with the parish pastoral council and its committees. The board approves recommended school personnel.  The board examines for approval a school budget developed through many different offices in the parish including the principal, parish financial secretary, parish financial committee, and pastor.  Needed curricular materials and diocese approved curricula are submitted to the board for approval.  Existing discipline policies are approved and identified by state law and the Archdiocese.  Modifications are initiated by the principal for board approval.  Public relations and physical plant improvements are discussed in cooperation with the parish pastoral council.
